Deutsche Telekom looks to Serbia
Deutsche Telekom is interested in buying a 15% stake in the incumbent Serbian telco Serbia Telekom.
The news was given to the Balkan press by Miroslav Jokcimovic, the head of Telekom Serbia’s trade union, who added that the state should still retain a majority stake in the telco.
Deutsch Telekom already holds an indirect stake of 5% in Telekom Serbia through the 20% interest it recently acquired in Greece’s OTE.

Nema odmora, šoping do daske.

Deutsche Telekom in big push for T-Home Entertain

August 29, 2008 - Deutsche Telekom has revealed plans for a major push for its "T-Home Entertain" IPTV service, and aims to reach 500,000 subscribers by the end of this year, compared to 250,000 at the end of the second quarter of this year, as well as expand its broadband footprint.
Speaking at a press conference at the IFA event currently taking place in Berlin, Deutsche Telekom stated that it plans to connect a further ten cities to its nationwide VDSL network (Kiel, Rostock, Bielefeld, Freiburg, Hagen, Krefeld, Lübeck, Oberhausen and Solingen), bringing the total number of German cities connected to its IPTV-capable VDSL network to 50. IPTV via ADSL2+ meanwhile is targeted for around 1,000 cities and municipalities by the end of 2008.

DT gains ten millionth DSL retail customer
According to Telecompaper, Deutsche Telekom’s (DT) fixed/broadband division T-Home gained its ten millionth DSL retail customer in August. Customers in 750 cities and municipalities have access to downlink speeds of up to 16Mbps, and 50 cities will have speeds of up to 50Mbps via VDSL by the end of 2009. IPTV via ADSL2+ will be available in around 1,000 cities and municipalities by the end of 2008. Also by the end of this year, 96% of all German households will be covered by DT’s ADSL network, with more than 80% of lines capable of providing speeds of 2Mbps or greater.

No nema veze, DT je prodao do sada i 120.000 iPhoneova.

BONN, Germany: Deutsche Telekom AG said Thursday that it plans to shut 53 call centers across Germany over the next two years in a move meant to help cut costs, but said all 8,000 employees affected would be offered jobs at the remaining centers.
Thomas Berlemann, a board member at Deutsche Telekom’s T-Home division, said the company hopes to improve service quality and productivity by concentrating activities at 24 of its larger call centers.
It also hopes to cut costs by €57 million (US$84 million) per year.
Deutsche Telekom’s call centers currently employ 18,000 people in total, and Berlemann stressed that none of those jobs would be cut.

No dobro balon ali balun? 22 lika ganjaju zrak natrpan u okruglu mješinu? Da da i to se može prodati. U stvari to ćemo svi kupiti… odmah…

Deutsche Telekom’s consumer division T-Home has launched the ‘Bundesliga Interaktiva’ IPTV application for subscribers to watch German premier football league games in new ways. The application has been launched in co-operation with Emuse Technologies and features coverage of up to nine concurrent live matches every game weekend. Customers can watch a variety of these games simultaneously and catch up on selected match highlights. The application also provides club updates, player news and match statistics. It archives full games and match highlights, which can be viewed at any time by T-Home IPTV subscribers.

Deutsche Telekom to see fixed lines drop below 50% in 2013
Deutsche Telekom will see the number of German households with a fixed telephony connection drop below 50 percent in 2013, according to German magazine Capital citing a analysis of private investment bank Sal. Oppenheim. This compares to around 70 percent during at the end of the second quarter of this year. The decrease will accelerate due to the success of DSL competitors, cable network operators and the increasing number of mobile only households. Deutsche Telekom plans to cut jobs among its 24,000 service mechanics, which make house calls, because it plans to transfer to an all-IP network by 2014. Such a network has less central switches, thus needing less mechanics to solve problems.

German watchdog mulls exempting major cities from DSL regulationFRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Germany’s Federal Network Agency is mulling to exempt those cities and urban centres from DSL regulation, where companies besides Deutsche Telekom AG. are operating their own fast networks, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported.
Such a decision would mean that in highly competitive cities such as Cologne, Hamburg or Munich,
Deutsche Telekom (nyse: DT - news - people ) would not any longer be obliged to grant other competitors access to its networks, it added.

Pa neće valjda regulator mirno sjediti i gledati kako konkurencija rastura dok DT puši korisnike. Svašta… ono… nismo u Slovačkoj… :-)

Slovak Telekom fined by competition watchdog
Slovakia’s competition body has fined fixed-line phone operator Slovak Telekom (ST) SKK 885 million (USD 43.09 million) because it abused its leading position by refusing other phone operators access to local connections, Reuters reports.

A scandal involving the illegal trade in customer data continues to grow in Germany. According to media reports, the country’s biggest telecommunications company, Deutsche Telekom, has also been affected.A call center in Bremen illegally sold on information from Telekom databases to third parties, according to a report on the German public radio station Norddeutsche Rundfunk.
