FlatRate telefonija

Vodafone’s German fixed network operator Arcor is threatening users of its international flatrate to cut them off, as they breach the contract conditions, according to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeinen Sonntagszeitung. Arcor has sent letters to customers of the International flat 1, when they have called 50 hours per month, that they have to call less or their contract will be ended. According to an Arcor spokesperson, customers, who call so much, breach the condition that the flatrate is used for private use and that the operator has already ended contracts with flatrate abusers.
Telefonica Spain has informed customers that it will start charging its non-ADSL customers EUR 0.58 (including VAT) for caller ID service from 10 July, writes Cinco Dias. The planned move is being fought by consumer association Facua-Consumidores en Accion. The group argues that this is “an imposition on consumers for a service they did not ask for and which is configured as default”. Telefonica denies the accusation, explaining that customers must opt into having their number used for caller ID. The company told its customers of the change in their last bill, adding that it offers service packages such as ADSL, double and triple play services for which the fee is waived. Facua insists that Telefonica can not get away with allowing customers to opt out of caller ID free of charge, but must start all over again, providing it free of charge until customers choose to opt in. The measure will affect 7.1 million subscribers, according to the consumer association, or 61 percent of the overall customer base. Telefonica, however, says only 2.1 million subscribers are concerned. The operator charges EUR 16.21 line rental (EUR 13.97 plus tax). The additional EUR 0.58 raises the total by 3.6 percent, on top of the 2 percent increase set in January.
Telefonica chairman Cesar Alierta has bought 2 million stock options that will only bring him money if the company’s share price exceeds EUR 30 by 2011. This represents a 62 percent increase over three years, explains Cinco Dias. In March 2007, Alierta bought 8.2 million options, betting that the share price would reach over EUR 22 by the same year, which implied a 36.7 percent increase over four years. Alierta thinks the best way for him to express confidence in the share price is to buy options that will become shares only if they meet the required price. Even if they do not, he can well afford to lose some of his personal wealth, the article concludes.
Telefonica has asked over 1,000 of its suppliers to go through a corporate social responsibility diagnostic process this year, reports Cinco Dias. The company’s aim is to extend the culture of corporate responsibility and to reduce risks to its reputation if supplier engage in reproachable employment or environmental practices. Telefonica has 28,000 suppliers to whom it awarded EUR 25.24 billion of orders in 2007. The 1,000 considered most at risk will go through their analysis this year. Telefonica considered at the end of 2007, that 2,453 of its suppliers provided products or services with a potential risk to its corporate responsibility image. Companies will be given the choice of a questionnaire from Telefonica or one from the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSi). The company estimates that 5-10 percent of its risk-bearing suppliers will go through specific responsibility audits.
E i nema Ron Summera…
PRAGUE, April 14 (Reuters) – Telefonica O2 Czech Republic (SPTTsp.PR: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it would pay 2 billion crowns ($127.1 million) to the Czech unit of T-Mobile (DTEGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) in a dispute over interconnection fees.
Telefonica O2 (TEF.MC: Quote, Profile, Research) said there had been no final decision in the dispute but it would make the payment to lift a legal freeze on some decisions, such as a planned real estate sale.
The company said the payment would make no impact on its bottom line, because a provision had already been made.
A evo i QuadPlaya Austrijancima…
Telekom Austria will start offering a combined package including not only fixed, mobile and internet but TV as well. The package will cost EUR 34.90 per month including Telekom Austria’s IPTV service AonTV or EUR 29.90 per month without TV. These monthly fees are valid during the contract time and will be increased by EUR 5 per month after that period. The bundle includes a 8 Mbps DSL connection and WLAN router and will be available until 11 July of this year.
T-Mobile Providing Backhaul for Wi-Fi Service on Ferries
Ferry users between the UK’s Isle of Wight and mainland will now have access to a Wi-Fi service following the completion of a deployment by ferry operator, Wightlink and Moovera Networks. Wightlink has equipped ferries in the South of England running between the Isle of Wight and the mainland towns of Portsmouth and Lymington with the Moovbox M Series mobile broadband gateway, which provides Internet access at multi-megabit speeds, and real-time GPS-based ship location monitoring.
“By equipping our ferries with always-on, high-speed broadband technology from Moovera Networks, we’re able to ensure our captains and crew have instant access to online resources throughout the voyage. We’re also laying the foundation for public Wi-Fi hotspot services as we continually seek ways to improve the passenger experience.” said Andrew Willson, Wightlink’s Chief Executive.
Telecom operators are finally realizing that service innovation and convergence are not the only ways to increase revenue and ARPU (average revenue per user). Instead, they are shifting their primary focus from customer acquisition to customer loyalty — innovating creative loyalty and affinity programs to increase "stickiness" and improve customer satisfaction and brand perception. Innovative loyalty programs can stimulate service usage and the deployment of new opportunities, however they must be timely, targeted and relevant in order for customers to see and appreciate the value.
