Kad se male ruke slože

T-Mobile and Orange to test 100-channel mobile TV
T-Mobile and Orange will today announce a partnership to run a commercial trial in west London of a new mobile TV technology which could allow handset users to tune in to up to 100 channels.
The technology, TDTV, has been developed by US-based NextWave Wireless at its British unit in Chippenham, Wiltshire, and could provide a cheaper and more efficient way to get broadcast TV on to mobile phones. The trial, due to start in late summer, will see several thousand Londoners given either a new handset – made by a far eastern manufacturer rumoured to be LG – or a wireless receiver, no bigger than a matchbox, which will transfer the channels to their mobile phones.

UK mobile operators partner on development of ad metrics
Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, Telefonica O2 and 3 have agreed to work together to develop common metrics and measurement processes for mobile advertising. Part of the GSM Association’s Mobile Advertising Programme, the effort will initially focus on the UK. The working group is conducting a feasibility study, working with each company’s UK operating business to explore the aggregation of appropriate information on a consistent and audited basis to deliver cross-operator metrics to the media and advertising communities. A key priority is the definition of a range of metrics that will describe the mobile audience and measure the effectiveness of mobile advertising. The GSMA and its working group will engage with a broad range of advertising industry associations and stakeholders to secure agreement and support for metrics that will form a common mobile media currency. Based on this currency, and subject to the completion of the feasibility study, all five UK operators will work with the GSMA to develop a proof of concept for a cross-operator mobile media planning capability during 2008.

Orange UK and T-Mobile UK intend to jointly pilot a new mobile TV and multimedia broadcast service in London using NextWave Wireless’ UMTS MBMS based TDtv solution. The pilot, scheduled for the second half of this year, will be targeted at people living or working in West London. During the six-month pilot Orange and T-Mobile UK customers will use TDtv-enabled WCDMA handsets to receive up to 24 high-resolution television channels along with 10 digital radio stations. Orange Mobile TV already offers a broad range of content including the major terrestrial channels BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, as well as Sky and most recently Setanta allowing Orange mobile TV customers to see live coverage of every televised match from the Barclays Premier League, while T-Mobile UK revamped its mobile TV offering last year, adding three Sky Mobile TV packages and eight BBC TV and radio channels.

Paramount Pictures has created a new business unit, Paramount Mobile Entertainment, under its digital division to develop mobile entertainment and alternative distribution models, the company said Monday.
Paramount Mobile Entertainment will operate under the umbrella of Paramount Pictures Digital Entertainment, according to a release. It also recently secured partnerships with wireless carriers and content creators to develop applications and content based on Paramount’s titles. Partners include Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T Mobile, O2 UK, Hungama, Cellempower (i2 Group), and Nokia, according to a release.

OK, nije baš skroz nova ideja…

Verizon Wireless and Nickelodeon launched Nick Mobile Thursday, which will bring Nickelodeon content to Verizon’s V CAST phones.

Today’s announcement regarding the Starbucks Wi-Fi operations will not impact T-Mobile HotSpot customers’ ability to use Wi-Fi services at Starbucks locations for years to come. In fact, the Wi-Fi network operations transition will not begin until later this year. Even after the transition, T-Mobile HotSpot and HotSpot@Home customers will continue to experience seamless Wi-Fi access at Starbucks locations for at least the next five years under a roaming agreement between T-Mobile USA and AT&T. There will be no additional charge for T-Mobile HotSpot and Hotspot @Home customers at Starbucks.

U svakom slučaju "data" postaje sve interesantnija jer postaje sve jeftinija.

The mobile industry has hit back at European Commission threats to introduce regulation to force data-roaming price cuts.
The GSM Association (GSMA), which represents mobile operators, says prices are already falling and that any move to intervene in this market by regulators could stifle innovation and stunt the development of new data offerings for roaming.
"This market is evolving rapidly, as operators develop new and innovative services and tariff packages, including flat-rate pricing packages and bundles," Tom Phillips, chief government and regulatory affairs officer of the GSMA, said in a statement. "In such a period of rapid growth and innovation, the GSMA believes that talk of regulation is premature."

WiMAX is between a crock and a hard place
Will the broadband play on?

AN ANALYST reckons that the failed alliance between Sprint Nextel and Clearwire means it’s no means certain that WiMAX has a future.
Andrew Parkin-White, principal analyst at Analysys, claimed this year is make or break for the wireless broadband tech.
"Several WiMAX networks were launched in developing markets in 2007, but most were small in scale and, given the low disposable income in these countries, operators will need to revise their business models if the cost of mobile WiMAX CPE continues to be high."
He also claims that alternative technologies like LTE are likely to offer advantages over WiMAX for mobile network operators and their customers.
“The future for WiMAX does not look healthy,” he said.

A fakat ono…

"Well done Yahoo, for knocking Google off the Web n Walk home page," wrote John Delaney, an analyst for Ovum, commenting on the announcement. Web n Walk is T-Mobile’s mobile Internet offering.
Beginning in March, T-Mobile customers in 11 European countries will see Yahoo’s mobile oneSearch by default on their phones. OneSearch is designed to make it easy for mobile users to get relevant search results and navigate through different categories within search results.

In October 2004, she appeared on the reality television programme The Farm, a Channel 5 version of the RTE show Celebrity Farm. At one point, Loos was famously given the task of masturbating a pig to collect its semen. The broadcast of this provoked controversy and attracted complaints. The RSPCA weighed in on the controversy, criticising the show’s producers for "morbid and sordid fascination with farm animals".
