Teta Viviane se opako odlučila razbiti postojeće monopoliste iliti inkumbente. Prvi na listi za odstrel je Telekom Italia i to vrlo uskoro, barem po najavama.

Corrado Calabro, president of Italian regulator Agcom, expects the Italian parliament to soon pass legislation giving it the power to apply functional separation at incumbent Telecom Italia. Speaking after a meeting with EU telecoms commissioner Viviane Reding, Collabro said the regulator is "convinced that functional separation, given the peculiarities of the Italian market, could be a win-win solution".

French ISP Free and WiMAX operator Bollore Telecom are each testing 802.16e mobile WiMAX technology in different parts of Paris, reports Ariase. Free is testing equipment from Samsung, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia in the 15th district. For its part, Bollore, is pursuing the same objectives as its counterpart in the 16th district. Little information on the tests is known. Mobile WiMAX services are currently banned in the country.

Symbian has launched two technologies, called ScreenPlay and FreeWay, at its annual conference in London. ScreenPlay is the new graphics architecture in Symbian OS and is designed for user interfaces which integrate high definition video content, games and animations. FreeWay is the IP networking architecture in Symbian OS, providing broadband speeds for streaming media and VoIP services. FreeWay supplies high bandwidth that is suitable for new wireless technologies such as LTE and WiMAX,

Cisco is reported to be on the verge of closing a deal to buy a WiMAX base station vendor called Navini Networks.

Now in the way cool corner. Check out this demo of Intel’s Moorestown, an open-iPhone like handheld. Imagine equipping all of your team members with one of these things. It’s like having your desktop, XBox, Ipod, phone, and desktop in the palm of you hand. Then again, maybe giving your folk this gizmo isn’t such a brilliant idea. Who’d get any work done!
